C.D. Leganés, through its Foundation, has reached a partnership agreement with the international organization HER GAME TOO, becoming the first club in Spain to join this initiative, which works to increase the visibility, inclusion, and participation of women in soccer.
Through this partnership with HER GAME TOO, the club reaffirms its commitment to the growth of women’s soccer and to promoting the values of equality, respect, and inclusion that must continue to drive the development of our sport. HER GAME TOO was founded in 2021, and its goal is to raise awareness about the importance of inclusion and diversity in sports.
Women’s soccer is currently experiencing a period of unprecedented expansion and consolidation in Spain. The increase in player registrations, the professionalization of competitions, and growing interest from fans and the media have placed Spanish women’s soccer in a position of international prominence. This was most clearly reflected in the Spanish national team’s victory at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, a historic milestone that continues to inspire thousands of girls and young female soccer players across the country.
Commitment to Developing the Women’s Program, with Significant Growth in Teams and Players
Against this backdrop of growth, C.D. Leganés has made a firm commitment in recent years to developing its women’s program. The club has experienced exponential growth in both the number of teams and players, consolidating a project that continues to expand season after season and aims to offer training and competition opportunities to an ever-increasing number of female soccer players.
In addition, the Ontime Butarque Stadium has become a premier venue for women’s soccer. In recent years, the club’s home stadium has hosted major events such as matches featuring the Spanish women’s national team, as well as the final stages of top-tier competitions, including the Copa de la Reina and the Spanish Super Cup, helping to bring women’s soccer closer to Leganés fans and boosting its visibility.
The two organizations will work hand in hand to continue promoting women’s participation in soccer
The club’s commitment is also reflected in its support for the Villa de Leganés Women’s Trophy, which in recent editions has been held at the Ontime Butarque Stadium with the goal of raising the tournament’s profile and bringing the players closer to the Leganés fans in a high-profile setting.
Thanks to this agreement with HER GAME TOO, the C.D. Leganés Foundation and the organization will work together on future actions and initiatives aimed at continuing to promote the presence of women in soccer, fostering increasingly inclusive spaces, and contributing to the growth of a sport that continues to gain prominence and break down barriers.
Various outreach and collaboration efforts will be carried out with this international association, which will be announced throughout the season. Among them is a campaign to mark International Women’s Day in partnership with the other member clubs.
By joining HER GAME TOO, C.D. Leganés once again demonstrates its commitment to the development of women’s soccer and to building a sport that is more equitable, open, and accessible to all.
