The C.D. Leganés Foundation, in collaboration with Leganés City Council, has carried out a major project at La Cantera facilities with an investment of €119,000 from the Foundation. This project reaffirms the commitment of the club and the city to providing quality spaces for the development of grassroots soccer and safe sports practice.
The work included the complete renovation of two 7-a-side soccer fields at La Cantera. The existing artificial turf was removed and new state-of-the-art flooring was installed: Realturf Xtreme 60SBR, certified to FIFA Quality and FIFA Quality PRO standards. In addition, the protective fencing has been renovated with 50-millimeter diameter round tubes, and the benches have been completely repainted, improving both the aesthetics and safety of the facilities.
With these improvements, the C.D. Leganés Foundation continues to support the growth of youth soccer and the training of young athletes in a modern and safe environment. The renovation of the F7 pitches is a significant step forward in ensuring the best experience for the players, coaches, and families who are part of the Foundation.
Jeff Luhnow, president of C.D. Leganés, has welcomed this investment: “We are proud to be able to contribute to the development of sport in Leganés and to offer first-class facilities for our young people. The collaboration between the Foundation and the City Council is essential to continue supporting the growth of our city and providing opportunities for future generations of athletes,” he said.
For his part, Miguel Ángel Recuenco, mayor of Leganés, expressed his satisfaction with this initiative: "The collaboration between C.D. Leganés and the City Council reinforces our shared commitment to the city, promoting investments and actions that improve sports facilities and foster pride in belonging to Leganés. The renovation of these two fields meets various requests made to us by users of the La Cantera sports facility," he said.
