Thanks to donations from individuals, fan clubs, and the C.D. Leganés Foundation, as well as the volunteer work of the Grada de Animación and the Federación de Peñas, the goal of raising the €34,000 needed to purchase Uriel's wheelchair has been achieved.
Following an appeal by his family in mid-October, C.D. Leganés launched a publicity campaign and joined the initiative to sell charity bracelets, promoted by the Once Leones supporters' club and the club's Federation of Supporters' Clubs. Thanks to the voluntary work of both associations, a total of €6,959 was raised from the sale of bracelets by the organizations and the club in its own store.
In addition, direct contributions to the Gofundme website reached €19,580 (€7,980 of which was donated since the awareness campaign began).
Finally, the C.D. Leganés Foundation has decided to donate €10,000 to make up the rest of the money needed to purchase the wheelchair and also to help with other expenses that Uriel's family will have to cover.
In this way, Leganés has once again demonstrated its solidarity and commitment when one of its own is in need. Little Uriel has now got his wheelchair so he can get on with his life despite his illness, Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Thank you all very much!
