Rubén Albés, New C.D. Leganés coach

C.D. Leganés reached this Monday an agreement with Rubén Albés so that the Galician coach becomes the new pepinero manager for the 2026/27 season. Albés, with ample experience in our football despite his youth, will be the new tenant of the blue-and-white bench.

Rubén Albés, born in Vigo 41 years ago, began his career on the benches in Burjassot at barely 25, passing subsequently to be assistant to Benito Floro in the Moroccan Wydad Casablanca. Back in Spain, he directed Novelda and Eldense before enrolling in Real Valladolid, starting the 2015/16 season in the reserve team and passing to be second coach of the first team in that same season. The following course, he would occupy during all the campaign the bench of the first white-and-violet reserve team.

A strong debut in LALIGA HYPERMOTION in Lugo and a promotion playoff against Albacete

In 2017 he signed for R.C. Celta of his native locality, taking charge of directing the reserve team in a 2017/18 course in which he would dispute the promotion playoff to LALIGA HYPERMOTION after a great campaign. After two years in Vigo and a passage through UCAM Murcia and the Romanian Hermannstadt, in 2021 he debuts in Second Division in a critical situation for C.D. Lugo, catching the team in descent positions with seven matchdays remaining and achieving the salvation in the last match against Rayo Vallecano.

The following course, Albés achieves a loose permanence with Lugo, achieving in addition the record of unbeatability of the lucense team in the silver category, arriving to remain up to twelve consecutive matchdays without losing. In 2022 he signs for Albacete Balompié, leading a recently promoted team to Second Division to dispute the promotion playoff to LALIGA EA SPORTS, falling in the final qualifiers against Levante U.D. In that season, he would be awarded the Miguel Muñoz Trophy for best coach of the course in LALIGA HYPERMOTION.

Real Sporting and Qatar were the final stops in his professional career before joining Ontime Butarque

In the 2023/24 he directed again Albacete, while in the 2024/25 he took the reins of Real Sporting de Gijón. His last professional experience, in the past campaign, took place in Umm Salal S.C. of the Qatar Stars League. Now, Rubén Albés returns to LALIGA to initiate a new stage on the bench of Leganés in which he will contribute his experience, freshness, and hunger to help the pepineros achieve their objectives.

Together with him, arrive to form part of his coaching staff Toni Madrigal, as second coach; Iván Cabezudo, as analyst; and Aníbal González, as physical preparer.

Rubén Albés will be presented this Tuesday, June 16 at 13:30 hours in the press room of the Ontime Butarque Stadium as the new coach of C.D. Leganés. Welcome to the pepinera family!
