C.D. Leganés and the Leganés City Council unite together against gender-based violence

C.D. Leganés will collaborate for another year with the Leganés City Council to promote the campaign ‘La violencia no juega’, aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of eradicating sexist behaviour and attitudes that perpetuate such violence.

The campaign's relaunch comes on the 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Sometimes all it takes to save a life is a simple gesture, which is why both captains of the senior men's and women's teams, Unai Bustinza y María Lázaro, came together to encourage victims to help others identify the danger they face.

The players will present a placard with a message against gender-based violence in the build up to the U.D. Las Palmas match.

During Sunday's game the players will don purple bracelets with the slogan: "#niunamenos - Leganés against gender violence", provided by the city council to show their solidarity. This is in addition to the squad presenting a banner with the slogan "Leganés Sport against Gender-Based Violence", to express the values of tolerance, respect and equality the club holds regarding the awareness that must be raised of the importance of taking action in any case of violence against women and the importance of moving towards equality.

This will not be the first time that the club has shown its commitment to the eradication of gender-based violence, as it has changed its usual Blanquiazul colours on two occasions in recent seasons, in 2017 and also in 2019, for the purple colour symbolising the fight against this curse.
