Meet Our International Players: Stories from Around the World

Nouf Al-Anzi: From Abu Dhabi to Butarque — A Story That Opened Doors

At the C.D. Leganés International Women’s Academy, we celebrate the players who have been part of our journey, those who left a mark on the pitch and beyond.

Among them stands Nouf Al-Anzi, captain of the United Arab Emirates women’s national team, who once wore the blue and white of C.D. Leganés Senior Women.

Her time with the club represented far more than a signing, it was a symbol of progress, diversity, and female leadership in international football.

 A Leader Who Inspired Others

Originally from Abu Dhabi, Nouf Al-Anzi arrived in Leganés with a solid track record in Middle Eastern football.
Known for her game vision, technical precision, and strong leadership, she quickly became a role model for her teammates and for the many international players who shared the training field with her.

During her stay, Nouf trained and competed with the senior women’s squad, bringing professionalism, discipline, and the experience that comes with captaining her national team.

A Madrid Experience That Opened Doors

While in Madrid, Nouf was fully integrated into the club’s daily life, training under the official C.D. Leganés Women’s methodology and sharing the locker room with players from Spain, Latin America, Africa, and beyond.
Her time in Butarque embodied the spirit of the Academy: welcoming international talent into a professional, inclusive, and developmental environment.

Her presence helped strengthen the link between C.D. Leganés and women’s football in the Middle East, inspiring a new generation of players who now see a pathway from their home countries to Europe.

Although Nouf has since moved on, her story remains an example of determination, leadership, and cultural connection — one that continues to inspire future generations of athletes.
